Raise The Flagg For Armed Forces Day
A flag-raising ceremony will take place at Oakham Castle on Monday 22 June to mark the beginning of the Armed Forces Day commemorative week. The flag will be raised by personnel from the 1st Royal Anglian Regiment, based at Kendrew Barracks

Parish Invitation – AFD Flag RaisingThis annual event forms part of the national Armed Forces Day programme, first established in 2009. In line with tradition, the Armed Forces Flag will be raised at approximately 10:30am on government buildings and landmarks. Armed Forces Day itself will be observed on 27 June 2026.
Attendees are requested to arrive in advance of the ceremony, which will begin promptly at 10:30am. The event is open to all, and no prior confirmation of attendance is required.
Please note that parking is not permitted within the Castle Grounds.
